Welcome to the August edition of the Down on the Corner Grocer newsletter!   What a warm summer we are having and this is having an effect on the supply of fresh produce coming in.   The heatwaves combined with the high cost of inputs means there is a lot of pressure on prices however don’t worry, here at Down on the Corner we always keep our prices as low as we can whilst searching for the best quality for you our loyal customers!

Fruit and Vegetables

August sees some of the yummy greens being produced in abundance.  Chard, celery, lettuce and other salad leaves are coming from our local farms and straight to your table.  August is also a great month to get hold of some aubergines and create a fresh and different salad or grill them on the barbeque!

Our delicious range of locally sourced berries are also in season with a selection of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries in stock.   Also coming fresh from the farm are fantastically fresh Victoria plums grown here in Ireland.

Oh and don’t forget to grab yourself some fresh organic tomatoes from our extensive range!

 From The Dairy Farms

Our new Creamy Butter from the Stephens farm in Derry is a must try!  On traditional soda bread it really is amazing and the care taken by the farmers in their production of this organic butter is truly amazing.

We also have our new French brie coming across the channel called Les Moji.  Well worth the shipping and one of the few items we have which isn’t locally sourced but worth the effort!
